General Description of the Position:

In this position you will provide technical advisory to renewable energy projects developers, lenders, national and international institutions promoting renewable energy, performfeasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design of utility scale (MW range)solar PV and Hybrid Projects worldwide.You will support and take a lead role in the development, engineering, construction supervision and commissioning of utility scale solar PV Projects.

Main tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead feasibility studies, CAPEX and OPEX estimation, conceptual /detailed design and plant layouts, Due Diligence, PV plants performance assessment, project development and EPC bidding process including preparation of technical specifications and evaluation of EPC offers.
  • Support and/or prepare grid studies and electrical systems design usingDigSilentPower Factory.
  • Prepare business cases and financial analysisfor solar projects investment.
  • Review grid codes and prepare grid assessment guidelines and checklists.
  • Draft, review and approve energy yield calculations using PV simulation tools likePVSyst and/or NREL-SAM.
  • Perform techno-economic optimization of renewable energy hybrid systems with HomerProor EnergyProand select the most cost competitive configuration for hybrid systems and micro/mini-grids.
  • Draft, review and approve equipment specifications and engineering documents according to solar industry best practice and International Financial Institutions (IFC) standards.
  • Support the development of new tools and/or templates for calculations, technical specifications,reports, project management and tests procedures.
  • Support project management and on-site construction supervision/coordination as required.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior engineers and/or interns.
  • Collaborate on other non-PV related projects as required (Hydropower, T&D, Substations and/or other).
  • Prepare proposals and support business development activities.

 

Specific professional experience, Knowledge, and skills:

  • Advanced level of knowledge in:

o Low Voltage Electrical Design (DC and AC) and Power Electronics (Inverters and Power Converters for BESS).

o Energy Yield Assessment and PV/Hybrid plants performance analysis (including uncertainty analysis and long-termenergy yield estimations).

o Solar technology: bifacial, trackers, battery storage, inverter concepts, plant layout configuration, floating PV.

o PV and Hybrid Systems simulation software tools:PVSyst, SAM,PVcase and HomerPro.

o Statistics and time series analysis including uncertainty analysis and regression models in Excel (Phyton or R highly appreciated).

o Relevant industry standards and equipment specification.

o AutoCAD skills including complex terrain modeling and PV layout design with PVcase.

o Electrical systems analysis with DigSilent Power Factory.

o Utility scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

  • Fluent in English(C1/C2). Intermediate levelin French language(B1/B2) (advanced (C1/C2)/native preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills including VBA.
  • Project Finance and Financial Modeling.
  • Knowledge of QGIS an ability to use it independently on energy projects analysis.
  • Good project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Conceptual understanding of electricity markets, renewable energy project finance, PPAs and energy projects development.
  • Previous experience in hydropower, transmission and distribution, substations is not required but highly appreciated.
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment,travel to remote places worldwide, learn new challenging concepts and interest in renewable energy.
