KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Governance
- Manage the comprehensive risk reporting framework (covering risk profile of FAB Franchise in Swiss, macro risks factors, risk mitigations plans etc.) for respective Country Group Risk Committees.
- Provide regular reports on FAB Franchise risk profile. Assist the Risk Management Committees in the taking appropriate decisions to manage the risk profile within the set risk appetite statement.
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Maintain, execute and continuously improve FAB Franchise risk management strategy, frameworks, limits, and tolerances to assess and mitigate the risk exposures, and to ensure the country operates within its pre-defined risk appetite, aligned to the group’s risk & business strategy.
Change Management
- Participate in management of change through continuous improvement of functional systems, processes and practices considering global standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans
Relationship Management
- Maintain effective business relationships with all relevant external/internal entities (such as government authorities, other financial institutions, key stakeholders etc.) and all sections with the highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical issues in-order to ensure the services required by the organisation are delivered in the most effective manner.
Reporting
Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet location & Group requirements, policies and quality standards
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Assist in development and effective implementation of risk policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned FAB Franchise so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
- Contribute in development of a risk culture within the FAB Franchise to drive heightened awareness and understanding of prudent risk management practices; work with other risk teams on technical aspects so that key stakeholders are equipped with the necessary knowledge and capability to take risk-based decisions on behalf of the Group.
- Act as back up for FAB Suisse Head of Risk during leave etc.
Risk Management Framework
- Assist in the development, and implementation of risk models to minimise undue risk exposure and monitor key risk indicators of the FAB Franchise risk profile with the aim to report and analyse the risk environment, emerging risk factors, losses and near misses.
- Assist with the monitoring of the overall portfolio for early detection of deterioration, stress testing and portfolio limit management to assure compliance with the risk governance framework.
- Assist with the monitoring, identification, assessment and documentation of risk management and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations to achieve compliance with defined policies and framework.
- From a functional perspective, key accountabilities will include the following:
Market Risk
- Assist with the maintenance of the Market risk limits and risk appetite framework in line with Group Framework
- Assist with the maintenance of the risk measurement and management including market risk appetite for the subsidiary incl. the definition of action plans, owners and escalation path
- Help identify the market risks relevant for FAB Franchise, run the risk assessment (including the potential impact) to the subsidiary
- Ensure timely reporting of inputs to ALCO / Risk Committee for FAB Franchise; Monitor and report the risk arising from local systems
Liquidity Risk
- Assist with the risk measurement for FAB Franchise incl. the definition of action plans, owners, and escalation path; in context to the risk appetite framework incl. setting of limits and on-going exposure management
- Assist with the measurement tools for ALM risk such as liquidity gaps/ratios, interest rate gaps/sensitivities; assist with any new mitigation strategies through hedging for FAB Franchise
- Assist assessment with identified liquidity risks and interest rate risks; incl. probability calcs and potential impacts for the subsidiary; assess the sufficiency of liquid assets (normal and stressed); analyse the concentration risk on the liabilities side; assess effectiveness of B/S hedges
- Assist with the risk identification and measurement procedures for liquidity risk and interest rate risk for FAB Franchise
- Assist with the approval process of excesses above limits for the subsidiary to senior stakeholders
- Assist with ALM risks through gap reporting (ratios, analysis, etc.); run periodic stress analysis and reporting; review contingency funding plans for the subsidiary
- Assist with adherence to local regulatory guidelines where applicable
Credit Risk
- Partner with the Credit department to define & set up the Country, Industry, Portfolio Risk Limit Framework for FAB Franchise and ensure that the limit framework is in line with the Group Wide Country Limit Framework
- Classify NPL & PDNI as per regulatory guidelines and calculate the provisioning requirements as per the regulatory guidelines and IFRS 9 requirements. Prepare the monthly NPL schedule, PDNI Schedule and annual forecast as per the group reporting framework
- Prepare the Credit Risk report in line with overall Credit Risk dashboard framework and regulatory requirement.
- Prepare the country risk reports in line with bank’s policy and regulatory requirements
- Monitor the large exposures and prepare the regulatory submissions.
Counterparty Risk
- Assist with identification and monitoring of banking counterparty limits set for FAB Franchise.
Risk Operations
- Monitor the periodical review of the products and processes and provide risk mitigation controls while ensuring the accurate identification of risk exposure in new products and services to ensure that risk implications are appropriately considered and mitigated.
- Monitor risk management metrics and monitor breaches to protect commercial and customer interests ensuring compliance with internal policy and external reporting requirements for FAB Suisse.
- Monitor the operational risk incidents and their documentation with the involved Business Units.
- Review and coordinate the annual Risk Control Self Assessments exercise performed by the Business Units.
Other risk areas
- Assist with the preparation of all necessary Group reports and submissions to local regulators
- Assist in operational risk and fraud risk initiatives as per directions of the local Head Of Risk
- Facilitate risk reporting to respective committees.
- Ensure gaps against regulations are highlighted ahead of time and closed out.
- Support closure of remediation and audit issues.
- Support in ad-hoc regulatory controls in discretionary Portfolio Management, Investment Advisory, Data Protection etc.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualification
Specific skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in Microsoft Office suites e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
- Professional Certification in CFA, FRM, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Avaloq is a plus
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in the banking sector or financial services division of a Big 4 consultancy firm with demonstrable achievements in analysing, managing and risk reporting.
